Get the family together or gather up your friends and head to the Winter Park Colorado Ski Resort for a great time on the slopes this winter. With almost 3,000 acres of ski land, there is plenty of room for everyone from the novice skier to the expert. Over 370 inches of snow fall each year at the Winter Park Colorado Ski Resort, and the official winter ski season is usually from late November to late April. Five mountains are accessible from the resort including Vasquez Cirque, a backcountry skiing area for expert skiers. The main mountain is a good place for beginner skiers to start, and it is connected with Mary Jane, a mountain with numerous bumps that’s great for experts. There are over 22 lifts including the new Eskimo Quad and seven other high speed lifts.

Non-skiers can have fun at Winter Park Resort too! There is snowshoeing and lots of fun on snowmobiles. It’s also possible to take snowmobile tours around the slopes if a visitor prefers to stay off skis. Dining at the Lodge at Sunsport is great, and the nearby towns of Winter Park and Fraser have shops and restaurants as well.

Ski Resort For an unforgettable experience, visitors may want to ride the Ski Train from Denver to the resort. The train has been transporting visitors to the slopes for over 60 years, over 4,000 feet uphill towards the Winter Park Resort that is owned by the City of Denver, but is operated by Intrawest on a 50-year lease. Visitors who arrive in Denver and who ride the Ski Train will travel through South Boulder Canyon and through 28 mountain tunnels. The train stops less than 100 yards from the lifts.

Once visitors arrive at the resort, they may choose to stay in the resort at one of the four locations that are very close to the slopes. The newest building is Fraser Crossing/Founders Pointe. With a rugged atmosphere, this location offers condos from studios to three bedroom sizes. It’s perfect for a girls’ getaway or for getting together with old friends from school just as it’s great for the family as well. Its unique feature is a top level with a giant area hot tub where guests can mingle. There are heated walkways to keep you warm as you come and go from your condo, and this level also has a large gas grill for a mountainside picnic.

If visitors prefer a ski-in/ski-out facility, they will probably want to stay at Zephyr Mountain Lodge. Its slopeside rooms are just 110 feet from the Zephyr Express Lift, and they are also close to The Village at Winter Park. This is a pedestrian area with cafes, restaurants, and shops.

The Winter Park Mountain Lodge is a huge facility with views of Mary Jane and of Winter Park. Breakfast and dinner are served in the restaurant, and there is a micro-brewery right in the lodge for a great beer after an active day on the slopes.

Village Lofts are actually located in The Village at Winter Park near the coffee shops and ski lifts as well. There are beautiful Rocky Mountain views from the lofts that are three bedrooms with enough room for family and friends. These upscale lofts are complete with elegant kitchens, and there are many things to do, such as ice skating and a fishing pond for ice fishing.
